This project involves the proposed construction of a split-level extension to the existing Hawk’s Well Theatre in Sligo Town, revitalising this very popular but aging theatre and opening it up to a wider audience by making it accessible to everyone. A new entrance lobby is brought to street level to greet the public, creating a more welcoming face of the theatre and setting up a more inclusive experience from the outset. A spacious circulation space hugs the walled garden of the Peace Park, opening up views to the park and to the town beyond. Visitors arrive at the theatre foyer below, which has been increased in size for visitors’ comfort and an improved overall experience.
